7 STEPS TO OVERCOME PROCRASTINATION

Sometimes, the most difficult part of any project is just getting started. You want to achieve success. You've done your homework and have a great plan, but for some reason you just can't seem to get going on the project. Maybe it's a phone call or maybe it's scheduling a meeting. You can't figure out why, but you just can't get started.

Sometimes it's a fear of failure driving you to not take action. You may not even know it, but if you don't take action you may rationalize that "it wasn't my fault". So understand that, and let's move on to getting started and ultimately succeeding.

1) Get an appointment book and use it. Staying organized will help you feel in control. Not to mention keep you from forgetting things. However, simply buying an appointment book won't do it, you must use it.

2) Start making lists. You must have one that lists your important projects you need to finish. Then you can organize it into importance. Once you've set this list in priority order you can work down it, checking off as you go and soon you'll be on your way to success!

3) You must make your projects have benfits that you recognize. Then when you complete your project you automatically get the reward. The whole time you are working toward completion you understand there is a reward and that is why you are working so hard. Make your projects meaningful and improve your chances of success.

4) Tell people about your goals. Once your friends and family or even colleagues know you have a goal they will help you succeed. You also have the added "pressure" of other people knowing what you are doing.

5) Take your one big project and divide it into smaller projects. It will be much easier to complete the smaller tasks and soon you'll be done with the whole project!

6) Once you've divided up your project, start with the part you think is the worst. Getting that part over with first will leave the parts you like next... trust me it works!

7) Set up rewards and don't underestimate the value of celebrating! You did it - celebrate!

You've set out on this journey, you've done the research and now it's time to get to it! Take the above seven steps and follow them and watch your success mount. You can accomplish much more than you think by focusing on what you need to finish in small tasks and celebrating your successes.
